U.S. Representative Michael Rulli (R-Salem) visited the Cardinal Generating Station on August 11 to meet with the power plant operators and Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives staff. Discussion centered on federal regulatory and legislative priorities aimed at preserving existing baseload power generation and promoting new investment in energy infrastructure in eastern Ohio. Marc Armstrong, Senior Director of Government Affairs for OEC, cited the ongoing repeal efforts of several onerous U.S. EPA air and water regulations aimed at shutting down coal-fired power generation as top priorities for preserving affordable and reliable electricity for co-op members. Representative Rulli reiterated his support of Cardinal Power Plant operations as a producer of dependable power generation in Ohio and supports continued investments in energy through the region.
