On February 21, Scott Law and Coty Lee were surprised at Bethany’s staff meeting when they were honored with the American Red Cross Lifesaving Award. Coty, Scott, and members of our First Aid Team responded to an emergency on July 29, 2022, when a contract worker went into cardiac arrest. Coty and Scott performed CPR and utilized an AED on the employee until EMS arrived 13 minutes later. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the patient regained his pulse and began breathing on his own.
The American Red Cross Lifesaving Awards Program provides recognition to those who, during an emergency, used their lifesaving skills to save or sustain a life. Last year, the Red Cross awarded 67 individuals across the United States with the Lifesaving Award for helping to save a collective 113 lives. At Cardinal Plant, our First Aid Team provides annual CPR training and teaches other important life skills to utilize during an emergency.
